About AirCARE1

AirCARE1 was created with the goal of providing the best possible air ambulance experience for our patients and making a difference in their lives. Founder Denise Waye is dedicated to the business and developed AirCARE1 as a way to provide patients with the highest standards available in the medevac industry.

Ms. Waye’s background as a critical care nurse, who then became a flight nurse, allowed her to bring her years of medical experience and expertise to the business. As she flew with patients working as a flight nurse for another air ambulance company, she quickly realized that the safety and compassion needed to make a patient comfortable during flight was missing. She wanted to find a way to ensure that her patients were more than just comfortable during their travel. Ms. Waye wanted to use a holistic approach to make sure that the flight was beneficial for the patient as well as any accompanying family members, so they could start the healing process even during transport and arrive at their destination ready for their upcoming medical treatments.

With that, AirCARE1 was born and Ms. Waye set out with a simple vision and belief for her new company, provide the highest quality medical attention, combined with compassion and a holistic approach to patient care to transform the air ambulance experience for patients and families.

Dually Accredited

An air ambulance company holding dual certifications from the top two organizations in the industry is a rarity in this field. We are proud to carry and maintain these two certifications, by both CAMTS and EURAM, which demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the highest standards of patient care.

The EURAMI and CAMTS certification programs evaluate the credentials of all medical personnel administering care. Our aircraft are evaluated and inspected to ensure that they meet the highest safety and quality standards. Aircraft and communication processes are also reviewed as a part of the application process. Continuous improvement standards and internal policies must also mirror the ambitious goals of the accrediting body. Facility audits are also a requirement for all applicants. Certification is only valid for three years. Upon expiration, medevac providers are required to renew their status and are subject to audit.

Every three years, the certification standards for these credentials are updated to reflect the emerging needs of the medical air transportation industry. Driven by peer input, these organizations invest a substantial amount of time to developing patient care systems that answer the needs of all patient profiles. AirCARE1 is proud to be one of only two air ambulance companies in the Western Hemisphere to have dual accreditations.

Our Commitment to Safety & Training

AirCARE1 has a long history of safe flying backed by our exceptional safety record. We own and operate a fleet of customized Learjet aircraft that have a record of being one of the safest small aircraft available. All of our employees are required to receive initial training, continuing education, and annual trauma training. AirCARE1’s initial training includes patient assessment, patient loading/unloading procedures, flight physiology, stressors of flight, fatigue factors, air medical resource management, aircraft orientation and safety, in-flight medical emergencies, quality management, survival training, HAZMAT, intubations, skills lab, and flight orientation. Additional training our teams also go through includes neurological, pulmonary, pharmacology, anatomy, physiology and advanced patient assessment.

This level of training exceeds the typical training done by other air ambulance providers and ensures our medical team maintains the highest level of standards. With this level of training in hand, our specialized staff are able to handle any medical situation that may arise.

In addition to our medical staff, our pilots are required to have logged at least 3,000 hours of flying time to even qualify for an interview with AirCARE1. Once hired, our pilots receive regular training regarding flight physiology, medical terminology, and training in how to support the level of critical care that patients may require. This training provides seamless communication between pilots and the medical personnel on board.

Incorporating Holistic Care

When it comes to transporting patients, maintaining the highest level of care is essential. At AirCARE, we combine holistic care methods with traditional medical treatments. Holistic care helps improve patient recovery and is not something you will find utilized in other air ambulance services. We accomplish this by flying patients in aircraft with first class interiors designed to provide a comfortable and peaceful environment that minimize the patient’s stress and anxiety levels.

Reducing stress in our patients is key to promoting their comfort. AirCARE1 accomplishes patient relaxation by providing them with therapeutic music, which they can listen to through noise canceling headsets. We have also found that hand massages and aromatherapy are also effective ways of reducing stress levels in our patients.

Our holistic care treatments include the following:

  • Aromatherapy
  • Hand massages
  • Therapeutic music
  • Noise canceling headsets

The above holistic treatments prove to be quite effective in creating a calm environment and they greatly contribute to the patient’s overall well-being. They help the patients relax, which not only allows them to rest comfortably but also speeds up their healing process.

State-of-the-Art Medical Equipment

Aboard every AirCARE1 flight is the very best medical equipment which offers equal or better care to that available in any premier hospital. For patients that require neonatal care, we are equipped with the following:

  • Neonate Isollete
  • Cross Vent 2i ventilator
  • Propaq monitor

For adult patients, we are equipped with:

  • Zoll Propaq MD Monitor
  • LTV 1200 Ventilator
  • Alaris Pumps

A Smooth & Comfortable Ride

AirCARE1’s fleet of Learjets is among the most efficient aircraft in the air ambulance industry with the ability to reach many domestic and international destinations without refueling. In addition to the long range and high-speed of our Learjets, they offer an amazingly smooth ride because they feature Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) systems. This system is state-of-the-art technology that allows for a smooth ride through high-altitude flight which reduces the possibility and impact of turbulence.

Originally created for business travel, Learjets are quieter than many similar aircraft. They also have luxurious interiors which provide for a pleasant and comfortable travel experience in an often stressful and traumatic time for the patient and their family.
