Phoenix, Arizona Air Ambulance & Medevac Service

When you or a loved one needs emergency air ambulance services from or to Phoenix, Arizona, AirCARE1 is ready to serve your emergency transport needs. AirCARE1 flies to and from Phoenix to destinations throughout the world. Whether you need transportation from rural northern Arizona to Phoenix or need to fly from South America to Phoenix, AirCARE1 offers outstanding safety and comfort for a patient and their caregiver.

Whether you live in the greater Phoenix area or are a visitor, life presents situations where emergency air transport is the only feasible solution. Seriously-ill patients often cannot fly commercially. What if your loved one is on a ventilator, for example? Here are some of the situations our patients encounter:

  • Visitors who suffer a heart attack, stroke or serious injury and need to fly home
  • A baby is born prematurely in a hospital not equipped with the necessary NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
  • Phoenix residents who become ill while on a vacation or a cruise
  • MD Anderson cancer patients who may need emergency transport to the Houston, TX campus
  • A patient lives on the East Coast and suffers a catastrophic stroke; they need to be transported to a specialized medical facility in Phoenix

The above illustrate the types of situations that we handle every day. In addition, we now offer a Commercial Medical Escort service where we accompany patients who may not need a dedicated aircraft and are able to travel under medical supervision on a commercial flight. This cost-effective alternative provides a skilled travel companion to help you get back to Phoenix or fly a beloved parent or adult child to Phoenix if they become ill or injured. Patients must be medically certified by their treating physician to qualify for this service.

    About AirCARE1 Air Ambulance Service

AirCARE1 was founded by Denise Waye. As a critical care nurse who became a flight nurse, she envisioned a higher level of safety and quality of care. To achieve these higher level of standards, Ms. Waye founded AirCARE1.

AirCARE1’s goals are simple – provide patients and their families outstanding care, service and safety. Attaining and maintaining those standards requires hard work and dedication twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Emergencies don’t take vacations so you may rest assured that we are always available to assist, day or night.

You may be wondering how to begin if a loved one needs emergency air transport. Call AirCARE1 at 1-877-760-7760 (or + 505-242-7760 out of country) or fill out our online quote form. Our team will provide you with a quote quickly and will coordinate all of the details including ground transportation and any applicable insurance benefits.

    Our Commitment to Safety

AirCARE1 is proud to maintain an outstanding safety record as safety is our top priority. AirCARE1 owns and operates its own fleet of aircraft under a 135 Air Carrier certificate. Every flight is staffed with two pilots who are specially trained to handle critical care situations. AirCARE1 pilots also receive annual training at one of the nation’s top flight training facilities.

Our aircraft are also maintained to the highest level of standards to ensure they are available for your medical transportation needs day or night.

Our fleet of Learjet are specifically designed for long flights. Our aircraft cruise at over five hundred miles an hour and at altitudes above 40,000 feet, helping reduce turbulence and assure a smooth flight. Most trips within the United States are flown non-stop due to the Learjets long-range capabilities.

Dual Accreditation: A Rarity for Air Ambulance Companies

Dual accreditation is rare among air ambulance companies. AirCARE1 is accredited by both the CMATS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems) and EURAMI (European Aeromedical Institute). In addition. we are only one of two U.S. based preferred providers for the International Assistance Group (IAG).

    We Focus on Holistic Care

It is not uncommon that the patients and families we serve are anxious as they are suffering from serious medical situations. Everyone at AirCARE1 wants your flight to be as stress-free as possible. We offer holistic care to help the patient travel in a stress-free and comfortable environment.

Stress may cause high blood pressure, increased pulse rate and tense muscles. Although anxiety medications can help, many patients prefer not to take them or their medical condition may preclude the administration of anxiety medications.

These are the situations where our holistic care helps both the patient and their family members. Talking to a patient about their anxiety over the flight helps soothe a distressed patient. A gentle hand massage helps loosen tense muscles. Aromatherapy often eases stress and anxiety. Therapeutic music soothes many patients.

The AirCARE1 team is trained to help soothe the anxieties of seriously-injured or ill patients to help ensure a positive healing process.

Service for All Types of Patients

AirCARE1 is equipped to transport all ages and sizes of patients. Who can we transport?

Neonatal/Infants – Tiny infants don’t always pick the most appropriate locations to be born. That’s we step in and provide a medical level 3 neonatal intensive care unit, trained NICU nurse and NICU incubator to get your newly born loved one to the medical facility with the best treatment options.

Pediatric Patients – Children may be involved in a serious accident and need a complex surgery that’s only available at a few medical facilities. Pediatric patients diagnosed with a rare disease often need specialized services that few hospitals can provide. Our specially-trained pediatric nurses provide specialized care for your child. Our nurses are also trained to intervene in highly-charged emotional situations that commonly occur in the transport of a child.

Bariatric Patients – Accidents and serious illness strike obese patients too. If a bariatric patient is traveling, a smaller hospital may not have the capabilities to treat them. AirCARE1 utilizes wide cargo doors on their Learjets which can accommodate the girth of a bariatric patient.

Geriatric Patients – Approximately 14 percent of the U.S. population is over 65. Many are still active and love to travel. When illness or injury occurs, special considerations are often required for their transport. There are special needs elderly patients may have including:

    • Extra oxygen at higher altitudes
    • More sensitive to medications commonly used during flights
    • May suffer skin integrity issues
    • Might become dehydrated more quickly

Our geriatric nurses are specially trained to handle these situations which will help provide peace of mind during your flight.

State of the Art Medical Equipment

AirCARE1 utilizes its signature LifePort Patient Care System to ensure patient comfort and safety. The stretcher mattress is 4 inches thick (typically only 2 inches) and includes an adjustable knee lift. Some air ambulance companies set their monitoring equipment on an adjoining seat where it can shift during takeoff, landing and during flight. The stretchers we use at AirCARE1 include a monitor bracket to safely secure monitoring equipment.

Patients are transferred into the aircraft with a customized patient loading ramp system. Our ramp helps prevent wobbling, tilting and tipping during loading and unloading. This is often one of the most stressful times for many patients and our specialized ramp system helps make the process quicker, safer and less distressing.

Only the most advanced monitoring equipment is used so that even the most fragile patients can be safely transported. Monitoring equipment for adults includes:

    • Alaris Pumps
    • LTV 1200 Ventilator
    • Zoll Propaq MD Monitor

The transport of an infant who is in intensive care or a baby who is in a NICU unit necessitates the most sophisticated monitoring equipment, incubator and trained staff. Our neonatal monitoring equipment includes:

    • Cross Vent 2i Ventilator
    • Medfusion Pumps
    • Neonate Isollete

The latest medical equipment is only beneficial if it is paired with a seasoned medical team who provides competent and compassionate care. Our team of healthcare professionals includes critical care nurses, paramedics, physicians and respiratory therapists. AirCARE1’s medical director has over 20 years of emergency room experience and is also a private pilot with extensive flight experience.

    Enhanced Comfort and Smoother Ride

AirCARE1 does everything possible to assure patient comfort during transfer from the hospital to the aircraft as well as during the flight. We offer noise canceling headsets with soothing music and hand massages using aromatherapy. On longer flights, patients and family members have access to in-flight movies and entertainment to help put their minds at ease. Amenities such as these create a calm and soothing environment during an often stressful time for the family.

Our fleet of aircraft includes a variety of aircraft suitable for both shorter flights and longer flights. We have recently added a Learjet 36A to our fleet of three Learjet35A jets. The Learjet 36A can fly five hours without refueling at a speed of 440 knots (500 miles per hour) and at altitudes between 43,000 and 45,000 feet. At these altitudes, the aircraft provides a smoother flight with less turbulence. The Learjet 36A will be utilized for both U.S. and international flights. The additional hour of flight time will allow AirCARE1 to fly patients to and from Hawaii.

Our service areas include the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, South America, Europe and Asia. For international flights, we handle all of the logistics for the flight.

No one ever expects to need emergency air ambulance services, but when the unthinkable happens to you or your loved one, AirCARE1 is here to help. We provide fast and safe medical transportation to or from Phoenix, Arizona to destinations all over the world.

Flying Commercial With A Commercial Medical Escort

If you or a loved one could use some medical assistance while traveling via commercial air, but do not need the full services of a dedicated medical transport flight, going with a commercial airline travel companion may be a good option for you. AirCARE1 offers commercial companions to travel with individuals needing assistance who may have a non-critical illness or injury. To qualify for these services, patients must be able to sit upright and fasten their seat belts. They must also be free from contagious diseases. Provided patients meet these requirements and several more, AirCARE1 will assign a commercial travel companion to escort the passenger during the flight back home. The travel companion will also make arrangements for the patient and his or her family members, including arranging ground transportation and getting all necessary pre-flight medical clearances.
