About AirCARE1 & How Our Service Works

AirCARE1 was started by two experienced medical transport professionals, including the current owner Denise Waye, critical care and flight nurse. While Ms. Waye loved the work of being a flight nurse, she was troubled by practices in the industry that she felt were not held to high enough standards. Because of this, she chose to start AirCARE1 to ensure that she was able to provide the best possible care and service to her patients and their families.

Ms. Waye and the other dedicated staff at AirCARE1 know that arranging for medical transport can be a daunting process for their patient’s families. Because of this, we have simplified the process and broken it down into four easy steps:

• Receive a Quote – The information you provide on your quote form or during your phone call will give our specialists all the information they need to call or email you back with a quote.
• Discuss the Arrangements – When our specialists reach back out, they will discuss all the unique aspects of your loved one’s needs. These can range from ground transportation to in-flight medical requirements, and any other concerns you may have.
• Transportation is Booked – Once our team knows all the needs of the patient, we work with individuals at the origin and destination and make sure our staff and Learjets are where they need to be when they need to be there, whether here in California or overseas. Family members can either accompany their loved one on the flight or we will keep in touch with the patient’s loved ones every step of the way until they have arrived safely at their destination.

In addition, we fly under our own 135 Air Carrier Certificate and pride ourselves on our excellent safety rating.
• High-Quality Aircraft – The line of Learjets we use are renowned for their safety and reliability. They are capable of reaching cruising speeds of 500 mph, and altitudes of over 40,000 feet, which allows our pilots to keep the ride smooth through many different weather conditions. By using top of the line aircraft, we can make sure our patients have the best possible experience.
• Nonstop Travel – Our fleet of Learjets can take on plenty of fuel and use it economically enough to get to most destinations in the United States in a single nonstop flight. This fuel capacity and efficiency reduces the safety risks to our patients that come from frequent stops.
• Experienced Pilots – When any AirCARE1 flight leaves the ground, it is flown by a team of two pilots certified in airline transport. Our team of pilots is experienced, professional and trained at only the most prestigious flight schools. Our pilots are also familiar with flying in the wide ranges of topography the state of California is known for.
• Professional Mechanics – Our Learjets are maintained by a staff of the best mechanics in the industry who put each aircraft through a rigorous inspection process on a regular basis. These professionals are specialists in our Learjets and keep them in pristine flying condition.

Meeting the Needs of All Kinds of Patients

The need for medical transport strikes all kinds of people, and AirCARE1 stands ready to meet those unique needs.

• Neonatal – For infants and NICU patients, AirCARE1 staffs level 3 certified NICU nurses, and a sophisticated suite of equipment to be sure that these delicate patients arrive safely. With our neonatal physicians on staff and our high-quality monitoring and incubation equipment, we can meet the needs of even the most fragile infants.
• Pediatric – Our staff knows that pediatric patients have special needs that require extra training and attention. The medical team that works with our pediatric patients are thoroughly instructed in the growth and development of children, and in alleviating their stranger anxiety.
• Adult – Adult patients will benefit from our highly trained staff and state of the art treatment. Medical and flight staff are trained and selected to meet each patient’s individual needs.
• Geriatric – According to the California Council on Aging, the geriatric population of the state of California is at 12% currently and is expected to rise to 14% by 2020. When a geriatric patient requires transportation, the medical staff who supports them must be trained in the challenges these patients face, including skin integrity issues, cardiorespiratory sensitivities, and the need to avoid dehydration.
• Bariatric – Our Learjets are specially equipped with wide entry doors and transportation equipment designed specifically to help transport bariatric patients. Also, our staff has been trained in the problems these patients face with nitrogen exchange during the change of flight pressure, and we will help manage the patient’s oxygen needs.

The professionals at AirCARE1 have developed an exclusive transport and care system called the LifePort Patient Care system. This innovative system keeps patients comfortable, safe, and secure throughout the transportation process and allows us to minimize the times the patient needs to be moved. Enhanced Comfort & Smooth Flights

The models of Learjets in our fleet are well known for their first class interiors. Business class interiors and luxurious seating are just some of the amenities available in these aircraft. In addition, these Learjets are able to reach high cruising altitudes which provides for increased smoothness. Smooth rides mean increased comfort, but more importantly, less jostling of our most vulnerable patients. This is particularly useful when flying over and around the mountains in California, and compensating for the state’s maritime weather patterns.
