    About AirCARE1

AirCARE1 began when Denise Waye had a dream to deliver high-quality care to patients across the country as well as in far-reaching destinations internationally. With a background as a critical care nurse spanning over a decade, becoming a flight nurse came naturally to Ms. Waye. With first-hand experience as a flight nurse, Ms. Waye saw that many companies in the air ambulance service industry were not making patients their top priority. She knew it was possible to offer patients unparalleled customer service, as well as patient care while in the air. With an opportunity to help patients in sight, AirCARE1 formed as a means of ensuring patients would receive the highest quality of care and safety during a medical transport.

    AirCARE1’s Commitment to Safety

At AirCARE1 we are committed to delivering our patients the safest medevac services available. With over a decade in operation, we have developed a skilled team of flight crew and medical staff along with the processes and procedure to ensure the safety of everyone that flies with us. To ensure we are deploying the highest level of safety standards, we require that all of our flight crew and medical staff receive ongoing training to ensure they are up to date with the latest in safety processes and procedures.

    AirCARE1’s Rare Achievement: Dual Accreditation

It is rare for an air ambulance service to receive dual accreditation and that is why we are proud of our dual accreditation accomplishment here at AirCARE1. We are accredited by the two leading accreditation organizations in the industry, CAMTS and EURAMI, which demonstrates our commitment to setting the bar for patient care and safety standards.

    Our Focus on Holistic Care

AirCARE1 combines traditional medical care with holistic care practices to provide the highest quality of patient care available. We believe it is important to treat the whole patient and not just a single condition. To reduce patient stress and provide a more calming environment for their healing process, we offer:

    • Noise canceling headphones with therapeutic music
    • Hand massages to reduce stress and improve circulation
    • Relaxing aromatherapy to help calm patient nerves

It is our goal at AirCARE1 is to create an experience that will enhance our patient’s overall well being. Through the use of aromatherapy, hand massages, and music it’s possible to develop the calming and pleasant environment necessary to enhance and promote the patient’s healing process.

AirCARE1 Caters to All Types of Patients

AirCARE1 transports all types of patients no matter their age or size. Below are just a few of the types of patients are team has experience transporting:

    Neonate Patient Transport

The need for specialized medical personnel and equipment is a priority when transporting an infant in intensive care. AirCARE1 offers the highest quality newborn intensive care unit available. In addition to transporting domestically, our neonatal transport team also services international destinations.

    Pediatric Patient Transport

When transporting pediatric patients, it requires a team specialized in understanding the unique needs of children. Having this specialized understanding not only helps the pediatric patient’s health and well-being, but also the companions who may be traveling with them. Our flight crew is knowledgeable about the pediatric patient’s anatomical, developmental, and physiological differences, as well as social influences. These factors all play into the patient’s evaluation and care. With this high standard of care, our flight team evaluates the pediatric patient’s needs and develops a flight environment conducive for their transportation. This is particularly important if the patient is flying unaccompanied because their initial stress levels could be higher than normal.

    Bariatric Patient Transport

In North America, there are nearly 60 million individuals experiencing obesity. Of these people, approximately 3 million of them are morbidly obese. It isn’t uncommon for illness or injury to occur with this group and oftentimes local medical facilities don’t have the equipment necessary to treat bariatric patients. As such, it is AirCARE1’s mission to load and transport bariatric patients as safely and comfortably as possible. Our team of bariatric experts has a firm understanding of the logistics involved regarding physically loading the patient into the aircraft and providing safe transport. AirCARE1 is equipped with wide cargo doors as well as a unique loading system to enable the safe and comfortable loading of large patients. Our aircrafts are also equipped with a stretcher system and LifePort patient care system, which includes a loading ramp that can carry up to 450 lbs.

    Geriatric Patient Transport

With an estimated 44.7 million individuals over the age of 65 years old, the population in the United States is aging. Despite this statistic, many geriatrics still have travel plans. If a geriatric individual requires medical attention while traveling and requires evacuation, the aircraft medical crew faces many challenges. AirCARE1’s medical crew has specialized training regarding geriatric patients, as well as their particular needs and the risks associated with their transport. Because their needs differ significantly from younger adult patients, special care must be taken during their transport. The following are some of the special considerations we have for transporting geriatric patients:

    • Ensuring the patient feels safe by allowing travel companions
    • Ensuring adequate oxygen is available
    • Ensuring the patient’s skin integrity receives regular assessments
    • Hand lotion is also provided as a means of preventing skin breakdown and dehydration
    • Ensuring patients receive fluids either by mouth or intravenously to avoid dehydration

The Use of State-of-the-Art Medical Equipment

It’s AirCARE1’s goal to provide patients with the highest quality medical flight equipment and patient delivery care system in the industry. This mission allows the company to continuously treat and monitor a broad range of patients while in flight. It’s these steps that help set AirCARE1 apart from other air ambulance services.

Patient Care System: Patients are transferred safely from their bed to AirCARE1’s LifePort Patient Care System until their transfer to the bed in the medical facility. In addition to maintaining a smooth transport, this system ensures the preservation of the patient’s strength and energy. Patients will travel safely and comfortably using this system.

Patient Loading Utility System: A mechanical loading ramp system is used for safe patient loading. AirCARE1’s custom loading ramp provides a faster, less intimidating, and safer way for patients to load and unload. Also, patients will not experience tipping, tilting or wobbling with this system. A wider cargo door also enables for patients to feel more comfortable when being loaded on to the air ambulance if they are larger in size.

Monitoring Medical Equipment: Even the most fragile patients receive the highest quality monitoring in the industry. Equipment for adults includes the Zoll Porpaq MD Monitor, LTB 1200Veintilator, and Alaris Pumps. Neonate patient monitoring equipment includes Neonate Isollete, Cross Vent 2i Ventilator, and Medfusion Pumps.

    Enhanced Comfort & Smoother Ride

It is AirCARE1’s commitment to provide first class interiors to patients on Learjets as a means of ensuring enhanced flight comfort. The flight level of the aircraft is also at higher altitudes which reduces turbulence. This will ensure the patient is comfortable because they’re receiving a smoother ride.

AirCARE1’s Learjets also travel at a higher speed so patients will arrive quickly at their destination. Our dedication to creating enhanced comfort for every patient on board begins with the comfort of their bed, how they feel in their environment, and all ways they can reduce stress. It is this commitment to the quality of patient care that helps ensure the patient’s health and well-being remains a priority.
