Our medical director has over 20 years experience in critical care and oversees all aspects of patient transport. Not only is our medical staff highly trained and experienced, they are kind and compassionate professionals who have proven, time and time again, their dedication to our patients well-being, comfort, and safety.

AirCARE1 assures that our patients will receive the best medical care, safety and comfort, and a reliable customer service experience, all at a good value. Our mission statement reads “Do what is right for our patients at all times as we transport them with exceptional care equal to or better than the best premiere medical facility.” This is our promise to you, and we keep our promises.

We Are Committed To Your Safety

We have transported thousands of patients safely to their destinations across the United States, as well as internationally, using our owned and operated Learjets. Our two pilot crews are certified Airline Transport Pilots (ATP), which is the highest FAA pilot certification, and are among the most qualified, experienced pilots in the world. Annual training at a renowned flight training school is attended by all of our pilots to ensure that they retain the highest level of training possible to ensure the safety of our patients. Our Learjets are among the safest aircrafts in the industry, have a cruising speed of 500 mph, and fly at altitudes over 41,000 feet, high enough to avoid turbulence or bad weather. We employ a full staff of experienced mechanics who ensure our aircrafts are flight-ready at all times. Our medical crews undergo an extensive initial training program, followed by monthly continuing education, and annual training as well. Rest assured, your safety, and that of your loved ones is our top priority.

We Are Accredited By Two Highly Respected Organizations

AirCARE1 is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) as well as the European Aeromedical Institute (EURAMI). Dual accreditations are rare in our industry, further proving our commitment to our patients. We have also been named a preferred provider for the International Assistance Group (IAG), an alliance of independent companies who provide assistance to those in need worldwide, and are only the 2nd air ambulance provider ever chosen for this honor in the United States to date. Ms. Waye is a certified member of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, and a member of the National Business Aviation Association, as well.

    We Provide Holistic Care

We know that traveling on an air ambulance can be a stressful event for both our patients and their family members, which is why we make every effort to provide a stress-free, relaxing experience through holistic means. Reducing patient anxiety through relaxing hand massages, aromatherapy, and music provided through noise-cancelling headphones during our flights results in a pleasant, calming experience so our patients may rest comfortably. Our specially modified medical environment is also designed to reduce stress and anxiety.
We know how important it is to provide an environment which promotes healing, and we treat our patients as we would our own family members, by doing our best to offer care and comfort while aboard our aircrafts.

We Cater To All Types Of Patients

We are fully equipped to care for all types of patients, including Neonatal, Pediatric, Bariatric, and Geriatric.

Neonatal patients require very specialized care as well as sophisticated equipment. Our neonate air medical transport aircraft maintains all of the equipment of a medical level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, including a NICU incubator, a Neonate Isollete, a Propaq monitor, and a Cross Vent 2i ventilator. Highly trained and experienced NICU nurses accompany all neonate patients on their flights.

Pediatric patients require specialized care due to the fact that they are at various stages of development, physically as well as emotionally. They are also anatomically different from adults as they maintain a higher body surface area to body volume ratio than adults, meaning that they can lose body heat more quickly than adults. They also maintain lower glycogen stores and have higher metabolic requirements. For these reasons, Pediatric patients require close monitoring during air ambulance flights. Our staff is knowledgeable of these differences, and are fully trained to assess and care for our young patients.

Our Bariatric patients, those who weigh more than 100 pounds over their ideal body weight, require special care while loaded onto and off the aircraft. Our Learjets have extra wide doors to accommodate them, as well as a loading system that includes a ramp, preventing the patient from tipping or wobbling. Extra padding is added to prevent decubitus, a common ailment also known of as bed sores, during the flight. Pressure changes may also affect these patients as adipose tissues may weaken, thereby releasing nitrogen into the blood with large concentrations of lipids leading to an increase of far emboli and nitrogen content. To minimize the chances of fat emboli during the flight, the patient will receive oxygen for 15 minutes prior to transport. Special monitoring equipment is attached to the stretcher so medical staff can monitor all vital signs during transfer into the air ambulance.

Geriatric patients often have special needs during transport, as many suffer from a loss of some physical or psychological functioning capabilities. It is especially important that they feel safe and secure as many suffer from forms of dementia or have physiological ailments. Some require medications to reduce stress and oxygen due to altitude changes. Skin is inspected prior to the flight, and special precautions are taken to prevent breakdown of the skin, such as repositioning during the flight. Dehydration is a special concern in our elderly patients, so fluids are given to ensure they are fully hydrated. Often, having a travel companion, such as a family member or friend, helps the patient to feel less anxiety during the flight.

We Maintain State Of The Art Equipment

Our state of the art, fully customized LifePort patient care system offers enhanced care to our patients. We maintain a mechanical loading/unloading system, which provides stability, preventing any tipping or wobbling, allowing our patients to feel safe and secure while boarding or exiting our aircraft. Our mattress are 4 inches thick, as compared to the industry standard of 2 inches, to ensure patient comfort during the flight. A special bracket is permanently attached to the stretcher, which secures our patient monitoring equipment, providing our critical care unit staff the ability to monitor our patients, even during the loading and unloading process. Our adjustable knee lift prevents the patient from sliding during takeoff and landing, as well as providing extra comfort throughout the flight.

We Offer Enhanced Patient Comfort And A Smooth Ride

Our aircraft travel non-stop to most locations throughout North America, providing a smoother ride for our patients, as stops can be stressful on them. Our Learjets are equipped with RSVM (reduced vertical separation minimum) systems, which allow them to fly at commercial airline altitudes to assure a smooth ride for the patient. By industry standards, they are not required, and not many other air ambulance services have it, but we do, as it results in reduced flight times. It also allows many of our flights to be non-stop, which aids in patient comfort, as stops interrupt the smooth transport to the flight’s destination.

Our Commercial Medical Escort Companion Service

As an alternative to our air ambulance service, we now offer a Commercial Medical Escort Service, a new division of AirCARE1, for non-critical patients, and the focus is entirely on medically supervised transportation of patients on commercial flights. The following conditions need to be met in order to use this service; patient must be medically cleared by their treating physician to fly with an accompanying medical companion, free of contagious disease, free from conditions involving trapped gases (bowel obstruction, gas embolism, pneumothorax, etc.), supplemental oxygen therapy does not exceed 5 liters per minute, are able to sit secured and upright in aircraft during taxi, takeoff, and landing (unless transported via a stretcher), and the patient is non-combative. Designed with the patient in mind, our medical escort service ensures safe and comfortable travel to your destination.
